Duties of NRI Branch

  1. As and when any NRI report to this office his passport is thoroughly scrutinized and if he wants to stay in India for less than 180 days then registration is not required.
  2. If any NRI wants to stay in India for more than 180 days then his registration is carried out and entry to this effect is made in the register opened for this purpose. If NRI gets himself registered within 14 days after his arrival in India then no fee is charged.
  3. If any NRI who want to stay in India for more than 180 days and get himself registered after 15 days then fee amounting to 30 American Dollars are deposited in the State Bank of Patiala in Challan Form No.32 under appropriate heads.
  4. Those who got themselves registered with this office they are given proper departure. Entry to this effect is made in the register.
  5. If any NRI wants to extend his visa then the following charges are made:-
    a) Upto six months - 40 American Dollars. b) Upto 1 year - 65 American Dollars. c) Upto 5 years - 130 American Dollars.
  6. Entry of extension of visa is recorded in the register. Fee is deposit in State bank of Patiala on Challan Form No.32 and copy of residential address, request for extension of visa and Challan Form No.32 is kept in records.
